About FPM at SPJIMR
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), approved by AICTE, is the full-time doctoral-level programme of SPJIMR designed to create world-class researchers and faculty in various management disciplines.
The programme offers equal opportunities to working professionals and candidates with no experience.
The working professionals may either continue their career journey while pursuing the programme or discontinue their job and pursue the programme on a full-time basis getting the benefit of a scholarship from the institute.
SPJIMR’s Fellow Programme in Management programme is designed to develop high-caliber researchers and faculty in various management disciplines.
It focuses on relevant and contextual research to address current business issues. It is designed for people who want to solve real-world problems through research and have the desire to teach.
The programme envisages itself developing independent top-quality management thinkers, thought leaders and consultants making contributions to the domain of management.
The rigorous methodology and practice-oriented research are the programme’s key differentiators.
FPM fellows also benefit from SPJIMR’s supportive research environment and extensive industry network.
Structure
The Doctoral Programme at SPJIMR is aimed at producing academic researchers and thought leaders of the highest global standards. The Programme structure has been designed keeping in mind the requirements to fulfill these objectives. The overall length of the program would ideally be between four and five years.

Eligibility
- Master’s degree with a first-class or an integrated Master’s degree in any discipline, or professional qualifications, such as CA, ICWA, or CS, with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks.
- Higher secondary schooling with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Candidates with work experience relevant to their specialisation or in a related discipline. We believe that a first-hand experience with organisations is essential to create a scholar who can balance rigour and practice.
- Candidates with significant work experience (over ten years) are also welcome as long as they have the motivation and background to pursue a rigorous research programme.
- Applicants will have to give a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) during their personal interview session at SPJIMR.
Selection Process
The FPM selection process at SPJIMR encourages bright aspirants with the right fit and motivation to join the programme.
- The process begins with reviewing the application forms and Research Proposal.
- The shortlisting panel considers academic qualifications, work experience, profile, motivation, recommendations and fit with the institute’s research profile and its mission.
- The shortlisted applicants go through a two-stage interview process – Research Aptitude Test (RAT) and Personal Interviews.
- The Research Aptitude Test consists of two parts – General Aptitude and Research Aptitude.
- Our distinguished panel conducts the Personal Interviews.
- Provisional admission letters are issued to the selected candidates.
Scholarship & Financial Aid
The FPM at SPJIMR is a fully-funded program. Every scholar admitted to the program will receive a 100 per cent scholarship for the entire duration of their FPM journey.
Apart from this, to enable the participants to take care of their essential needs during their research journey, SPJIMR will also provide a monthly stipend. Participants in good conduct and faith will receive a stipend for the program’s first four years. The details of the stipend at present are as follows:
- During the coursework phase: INR 40,000 per month
- Post clearing the qualifying exam: INR 42,000 per month
- Post successful defence of proposal: INR 45,000 per month

What is the duration of the program?
FPM at SPJIMR generally takes anywhere between four to five years to complete.

Do the candidates need to teach?
To impart high-quality teaching and research skills, scholars are required to go through a teaching assistantship in their area for a limited time during their course. Actual teaching sessions might be involved during the same.
