Background
The objective of the program is to impart knowledge on Econometrics and its applications from the context of empirical research for carrying out robust quantitative analysis in the various fields of Business, Commerce, Economics, Management, and Social Sciences.
The application of Econometric analysis especially in the fields of Finance, Business, and Management is becoming increasingly important for analyzing different day-to-day business problems.
The application of these analytical models on different datasets via statistical software has made a revolutionary transformation in the field of data analytics. The course will enable the participants to develop their conceptual clarity and practical knowledge which will help them to carry out robust empirical analysis in order to address applied problems.
Key Benefits
After attending the program, the participants will be able to:
Understand what Regression analysis is, & how an econometric model is formulated in the field of Economics, Finance, or Management
- Understand how econometric modeling helps in analyzing different datasets in order to arrive at the best fit model using various econometric indicators
- Acquire knowledge about the usage and application of ARIMA time series modeling for Forecasting in various fields of economics, finance, or management
- Understand the application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique in the field of Economics, Finance or Management
- Understanding properties of Stationarity and Unit Root Testing for time series data
- Understand how long-run relationships are tested and estimated using Cointegration & error correction models like VECM
This Workshop is suitable for
Faculty members and research scholars (across all areas) from educational institutes who are interested in Data Analysis and Forecasting, who need to develop an understanding of econometrics, how various econometric techniques can be applied in order to analyze the data and come out with feasible and meaningful solutions.
Pedagogy
The course uses a mix of interactive techniques, such as topic-wise detailed discussions on theory followed by thorough practical sessions. All the participants will get training on an important software STATA by learning how to apply various econometric models and conduct data analysis using this software.
Major Topics
The program consists of four modules, first one focuses on Regression analysis and related topics, the second one focuses on ARIMA modeling, the third one talks about the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique and finally, the fourth module focuses on Vector Error Correction (VECM) models. The course emphasizes on application and implementation
Schedule:
of these four modules and related econometric techniques. Further, the usefulness of these econometric techniques is illustrated using real-world examples and its implementation is demonstrated using relevant software programs like STATA.
