Neil Denari, professor of architecture and urban design in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture, has received the 2019 Educator of the Year Award from the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles Chapter.
AIA Los Angeles is an organization dedicated to using the power of architecture to influence the well-being of the city’s residents. Their programs foster aspirations, capabilities and regional leadership through advocacy, education and programs that support individual practices. The organization is made up of more than 4,000 members, half of whom are architects.
Denari has been a member of the UCLA faculty since 2002, and is the head of Neil M. Denari Architects Inc., which was awarded first prize in the New Keelung Harbor Service Building competition in 2012. He has been honored by AIA Los Angeles in the past, receiving the Los Angeles AIA Gold Medal in 2011. Denari lectures all around the world and has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Princeton and Columbia.
