Prof Vijayta Doshi recently completed Babson Fellows Program for Entrepreneurship Researchers (Fall) at Babson College, United States. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Punjab University. She thanked her mother for motivating her to be a teacher as her mother herself was a teacher. She has always been a research-oriented person. However, the MBA-buzz drove me towards completing an MBA after which she pursued her Fellow Program in Management from IIM Ahmedabad.
Her research on the negative capability was well-received for which she was selected as one of the “100 leaders of tomorrow” at the 43rd St. Gallen Symposium, Switzerland. Along with the journey, the love for teaching and taking up teaching as a career overpowered her interest to do other things.
She joined IIM Udaipur in 2015, which was a very different experience. She worked even when relocating an entire Institute from the shared campus in MLSU to the campus here in Balicha. IIM Udaipur, a research-oriented institute, makes her feel as if she belongs to that area. She makes use of each opportunity and does not keep waiting for one to come.
Her research interests include gender, diversity & inclusion in organizations, entrepreneurship, leadership, knowing/not knowing from a critical management perspective. She received the Best Paper Award by the AOM 2021 CMS Division: Sole-authored paper adjudged among the Best Papers by the CMS division at the 81st Annual Academy of Management (AoM) 2021. (AoM Best paper proceedings).
Prof Vijayta Doshi was conferred with Teaching Award for outstanding teaching feedback in the academic year 2020-2021 at IIM Udaipur. She was declared the winner of the International Ph. D Student Competition 2013 conducted by the School of Management, University of South Australia, Adelaide.
She was selected as one of the 15 Ph. D candidates across the world to attend a discussion forum on Management in the 21st century at the University of South Australia, Adelaide from 11th to 13th November 2013. I wrote an essay on ‘Management in the 21st century based on my thesis work.
She was selected as ‘leader of tomorrow’ among 100 candidates across 80 countries for the 43rd St. Gallen Symposium, Switzerland held from 2nd to 3rd May 2013. I wrote an article on the sub-theme ‘Management of excellence’ under the main theme of ‘rewarding courage’.
She received the Best Paper Award in Organizational Behavior track at the Doctoral Colloquium held at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India from 9th to 11th December 2013.
She also had the privilege to be selected for the doctoral students’ mentorship program in 3rd Indian Academy of Management held at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India from 12th to 14th December 2013 to receive one-on-one mentorship from the founding father of Critical Management Studies, Mats Alvesson, Professor, Lund University, Sweden.
She was declared as an Institute (IIM-Ahmedabad) winner in an essay writing competition organized by the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and Shri Ram Chandra Mission. I wrote an essay on the topic: “It is not what you look at that matters, but what you see”-H.D. Thoreau (2013).
